Peter Ellenshaw

Peter Ellenshaw was born in Britain. He learned the highly demanding technique of matte painting, which requires the realism of photography. His work eventually attracted the attention of Walt Disney, beginning a professional association that spanned 34 films. Famous for his landscapes, heis considered one of the pioneers of cinematic special effects. Ellenshaw won an Oscar for his work on the film Mary Poppins.

Features of Ellenshaw’s work are his marvellous treatment of light and the photographic accuracy of the detail within the image.
